Stanford Leads the Way in iOS Development Course

Are you working in a position that your education qualified you for?

The social norm today leads a strong majority of us to obtain college degrees, but there are few people pursuing careers that their education specifically qualified them for; especially in the modern marketing world. During a PPCChat back in September, the moderator asked how many of us were hired just to do PPC. Several answered that the only real criteria for the job was that "I really enjoyed it and was ready to learn."

I know I personally never took a college course in search engine marketing or PPC management. Likewise, some of our developers' key skills were learned in online forums and through self-teaching methods. Which is why I think it's really awesome that Stanford University is now offering an iOS Mobile App Developer Course.

The new class lectures are available to download for free from iTunes U. This is only a small step in educating students for specific skills they need to excel in mobile and the internet marketing world – but it's an important step to take. With education costs being as high as they are, I think it's fundamental that colleges offer courses that not only prove that students are willing and able to learn, but also provide skills that will be applicable in the real world, and that requires constantly changing curriculum to fit the new technology trends.
