Tips For Mobile Email Marketing

PDFPrintE-mail

Email is a huge marketing medium, and with 25-35% of emails being viewed on mobile devices, Mobile-email-marketingit's time to refine your mobile email techniques.

I've spent some time putting together a list of tips of how to increase open rates and conversions rates on mobile, and I decided to use this week's post to share them with you.

  1. Know who your customers want to hear from. The "From" line is particularly prominent on a mobile device; it's the first thing the user sees. Make sure your emails are correctly displaying your company's name, and that the name being used is one that user wants to hear from.

  2. Get to the Point. Your standard email subject lines won't suffice on mobile. You only have about 32-36 characters to convince your user to click on your email, so make it short, sweet, and convincing.

  3. Use bigger text. No one wants to have to pinch, zoom and scroll on his phone to find out about your offer. Make sure headlines and buttons are at least 44 pixels.

  4. Ditch the images. Sure, you can keep one or two small images to make your email pretty, but make sure they have affective alternate text. There's nothing worse than a slow loader... except a "no loader."

  5. Color Code. Group email sections using varying background colors so it's visually easy for the user to take in the content.

  6. Scale it down. Use 1 column designs that are formatted to look great anywhere between 320-550 pixels, that way your content will be effectively displayed on any phone.

  7. Treat it uniquely. Don't settle for resizing your desktop email to fit a mobile screen. Stop, think about your users, and work on an email plan that fits their needs. It will pay off for you in the end.
